ORAL HEALTH THERAPIST, PRACTICE OWNER

Pia Nevins, B Oral Hlth, PG Cert Adv Clin Practice

As the proud founder and co-owner of Tweed District Dental, I bring over 20 years of experience as an Oral Health Therapist in the dental industry.

I graduated from Griffith University, where I received multiple academic accolades, including the prestigious Golden Scaler award for clinical excellence. Committed to lifelong learning, I further enhanced my expertise with a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice from the University of Melbourne, enabling me to provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages.

What distinguishes my practice is my ability to connect with patients, particularly those who may feel anxious about dental visits. My calm and nurturing demeanor helps to alleviate dental fears, fostering a comforting atmosphere that transforms routine appointments into positive, engaging experiences.

Since founding Tweed District Dental in 2012, I have been dedicated to meeting the diverse dental needs of our community, drawing patients from the Gold Coast and Northern NSW who appreciate my empathetic care and commitment to understanding their individual needs.

DENTIST

Dr Ri Yon Choi, B OralH (DSc), GDip Dent, GDip Orthodontics & Orthopaedics

Growing up in Sydney before moving to the Gold Coast at 15 shaped my perspective and ambition. I hold a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science, a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry from Griffith University, and a Graduate Diploma in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics from the Sydney-based International Academy of Advanced Dentistry.

For me, dentistry revolves around the patient journey. My priority is ensuring each patient feels respected, at ease, and comfortable throughout their visit. With a gentle, approachable manner, I aim to alleviate the worries of those who have faced difficult dental experiences. The greatest reward is seeing a formerly anxious patient return, smiling and confident, after receiving attentive care.

Although I am especially drawn to working with children, I am equally committed to cosmetic dentistry. This field allows me to create transformative results, giving patients the confidence and satisfaction of a vibrant, healthy-looking smile.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with loved ones, playing piano, and exploring new places. My ability to speak English and Korean allows me to connect with a wide range of patients.

DENTIST

Dr Ri Jin Choi, B OralH (DSc), GDip Dent

I was born in South Korea and raised in Queensland, making me fluent in Korean and English, and I have a passion for the outdoors and community. I attended the Queensland Academy for Health Sciences, earned a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science, and a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry from Griffith University.

Summer is my favourite season. Like the Queensland sun, I bring warmth and positivity to dental care. My goal is to make every visit comfortable and stress-free for patients.

As someone who experienced dental anxiety as a child, I understand how daunting visits can be. I create a calm environment, especially for children, who often impress me with their bravery and curiosity.

I focus on comprehensive care, emphasising prevention, early intervention, and aesthetics. A healthy smile supports well-being, and I encourage patients to take charge of their oral health. Whether it’s a check-up, restorative care, or a smile makeover, I tailor treatment to each person.

I am especially interested in aesthetic dentistry and enjoy helping patients achieve beautiful, functional smiles. Staying current with new techniques and technology lets me provide comfortable, quality care.

Outside dentistry, I enjoy time with family and friends, playing piano, and exploring new cultures through travel.

Vada Nevins, B Oral Hlth Therapy

With over five years of experience in the dental industry, I am Vada, a passionate Oral Health Therapist and proud part-owner of our practice.

I started my academic journey with a degree in Biomedical Science at Griffith University. However, I soon realised that my true passion lay in oral health. This realisation led me to transfer to the Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy program at Central Queensland University, where I refined my skills and dedicated myself to providing compassionate, patient-centred care.

As both a clinician and a mother, I truly understand how vital it is to create a comfortable and positive dental experience for patients of all ages. I have a special interest in children's dentistry, recognising the importance of instilling good habits early on. However, my dedication extends to adult check-ups, x-rays, preventative care, and general dental treatments. I believe that every patient deserves to feel supported and understood during their visits.

My gentle and caring approach helps patients feel at ease, allowing me to build lasting relationships and support their long-term oral health and confidence. I am always eager to learn more and stay updated with the latest dental advancements to provide the best care possible.

DIRECTOR TDD MOUTHGUARDS, PRACTICE OWNER

Damien Nevins

Junior sports build kids’ fitness, teamwork, and confidence. Seeing young athletes thrive inspires my support for local communities. I supply high-quality mouthguards to Tweed and Gold Coast sporting clubs, directly contributing to the well-being and safety of young athletes—a role I find rewarding.

I manage business operations at Tweed District Dental, overseeing daily tasks and helping maintain excellent patient care.

I’m a proud sports enthusiast who loves attending live matches. Outside of work, I treasure time with my wife and adult kids, especially camping and exploring the outdoors together—experiences that bring us closer as a family.
