Dental Veneers

Do you long for a more youthful and attractive looking smile? If so, dental veneers could be an excellent option for you. Especially, if your teeth have become chipped, worn badly, discoloured or slightly crooked.

Dental veneers are ultra-thin coverings placed over the front surfaces of the teeth to restore or enhance their shape and colour.

Veneers can be made of either porcelain (ceramic) or composite resin (plastic/ glass mixture). At Tweed District Dental, we offer both types of veneers depending on your individual needs and budget. Our porcelain veneers are precision made by a dental laboratory. Our composite veneers can also be made by a laboratory or by us, in-house, at less cost.

Porcelain is often used for making veneers as it has the look and feel of natural tooth enamel, is long-lasting and resists staining, well. Composite veneers, which are less expensive and can be applied more quickly if made in-house, are becoming increasingly popular. But, they do not typically last as long as porcelain veneers and tend to stain more easily.

Both types of veneers can help make your teeth appear bigger, healthy, straighter, more evenly shaped and whiter, depending on the look you are after.

Well cared for, composite veneers can last up to 5–10 years, with porcelain veneers lasting as long as 10–15 years. If you are in the market for a smile makeover and would like to explore the option of having veneers, please call (07) 5513 0900 or email us.
