ORAL HEALTH THERAPIST, PRACTICE OWNER
Pia Nevins, B Oral Hlth, PG Cert Adv Clin Practice
Pia is the proud owner of Tweed District Dental and our lovely Oral Health Therapist. She is a highly experienced practitioner, having worked in the dental industry for the past 20 years.
A local graduate of Griffith University, Pia picked up numerous academic prizes during her undergraduate studies, including the coveted Golden Scaler award for overall clinical excellence. Always keen to update her skills and knowledge, Pia has since completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice from the prestigious University of Melbourne. This degree expands her scope of practice to provide dental treatment to both children and adults.
Pia has a talent for treating children (and nervous adults). She knows how to ease their dental fears and make going to the dentist a fun and positive experience. Pia has been attending to the dental needs of kids at Tweed District Dental since 2012. It’s no surprise that Pia has a big following with families, they travel from all over the Gold Coast and Northern NSW to see her.

Dr Vanessa Schneider, BDS
Vanessa was born in Brazil, where she owned and operated a dental practice for many years, before relocating with her family to the Gold Coast in 2011. She has spent her time in Australia working in private practice as well as supervising and tutoring at the Griffith University School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Vanessa has always been passionate about her work, and for the past 20 years has treated her dental patients with care and dedication. She loves all aspects of dentistry, especially Endodontics and Paediatric dentistry in which she has advanced qualifications and vast experience.
When she is not working, Vanessa spends most of her time with her two active boys. Together, they enjoy the beach, surfing and anything else the Gold Coast sunshine and outdoors have to offer. Vanessa speaks both fluent English and Portuguese.

Dr Ri Yon Choi, BOralH (DSc), GDipDent, GDip Orthodontics & Orthopaedics
Born in Sydney, Ri moved to the Gold Coast when she was 15. She is a graduate of the Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry programs at Griffith University.
For Ri, dentistry is all about the patient experience. She likes to ensure her patients feel cared for, at ease and comfortable every time they visit. Gentle, sensitive and friendly, Ri is acutely aware that not everyone has had happy experiences seeing a dentist. Nothing satisfies her more than seeing a previously anxious patient coming back happily to see her again and again, once they have experienced her magic.
Ri has a particular soft spot for children. Her other interest is cosmetic dentistry, which enables her to give people the joy of a new, bright, white smile that transforms their looks and confidence.
When not practising her craft, Ri enjoys being with her family and friends, playing the piano and travelling. Ri speaks both English and Korean fluently.

Damien Nevins
Damien is a strong believer in the value of junior sports in promoting kid’s fitness, teamwork and all-round confidence. He spends his work time supplying high-quality, sports mouthguards to members of local Tweed and Gold Coast sporting clubs. Other times, you’ll find him back at Tweed District Dental operating in a business administration role.
Damien is a self-confessed sports addict. He enjoys attending all sorts of live matches and being with his wife and teenage kids who he loves taking on camping expeditions.

Our reception people are here to provide you with all the information and help you need before and after each visit. Calm, welcoming and reassuring, they aim to make your trips to the dentist as stress-free and painless as possible. Whether it be arranging an appointment, discussing payment options, confirming your medical history or making you a cup of tea or coffee, they’re here to serve you. They’ll even help you with entertaining the kids.
